If you have any questions about this programme, please get in touch via ffa@yunussb.com or +27 78 240 7119 (WhatsApp).

We believe access to high quality hygiene, health and nutrition should be a universal right, not a privilege. That's why we have created the Fight for Access Accelerator, where Reckitt will catalyse innovative social enterprises to help tackle the worlds greatest problems and strive for a fairer society.

By leveraging the power of our people and our commercial acumen, we will scale innovative, locally designed approaches that enable access to health and hygiene and create long-term, sustainable impact. Through working with social businesses, our investment will live over and over again as the enterprises grow, continuing to create jobs and economic empowerment, enable access and drive positive health outcomes.

THE ACCELERATOR WILL PROVIDE:

Bootcamps: Impact accelerating bootcamps, delivered by expert partners, tailored to unlock specific barriers to growth

Mentorship: Expert mentorship from Reckitt's people, specialists in health and hygiene and a wide range of business functions

Funding: Seed funding to invest in growth to scale the business and drive positive health outcomes

No one organisation can achieve the challenges of the UN Sustainable Development Goals on their own. We need to work in partnership and play to our strengths.

We're applying our expertise, the power of our people and the reach of our purpose-led brands, to work with expert partners and enable access in communities all over the world. By bringing people together and changing behaviours, we can build long-term sustainable change. It's how we will measurably impact 10m livelihoods by 2030, in our pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world.

ACCELERATING GRASSROOTS INNOVATIONS PROMOTING ACCESS TO WATER, HYGIENE AND SANITATION

We are partnering with Yunus Social Business to call for social enterprises in South Africa to respond with their innovative approaches to creating greater access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

THE ENTERPRISES SHOULD ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING BARRIERS TO ACCESS TO WASH:

Improvements for broader and better access within the current model: Methodologies and technologies for water access and conservation, innovative service providers for operating and maintaining water and sanitation services, or methods and concepts to allocate technical skills and resources to water and sanitation providers

Innovation and decentralization to create a better model for the future: New technologies and cleaner, regenerative solutions for access to water and management of wastewater, new solutions for sanitation services and faecal sludge management, new and easy-access solutions for better hygiene practices and concepts for their distribution, or new and effective forms of financing (for providers and consumers)

Enabling behaviour change and community engagement: Methodologies and social technologies for information and education on water, sanitation and hygiene; or methodologies and social technologies for community management of current and new water, sanitation and hygiene solutions;

We also suggest that the selected solutions and businesses prioritise the following audiences: Women and girls, population in remote and rural areas, population in informal settlements and suburbs of urban centres

We are looking for businesses, start-ups, entrepreneurs, innovators, companies and civil society organizations with commercial solutions (products and services) that, in their application, cause changes and positive impacts on the lives of South African people. Applications will be open until 15 August with the accelerator beginning in October.

Please find additional information on the programme and all information on general conditions, the application and selection process, important issues, confidentiality, and processing of personal data in the Terms of Reference. To start your application process, youll need to register as an Entrepreneur. Once the registration is completed, you will be redirected to the questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of multiple choice and open-ended questions. Please answer them thoroughly, but be concise. You can always save your progress as a draft and get back to it later. Bookmark this website to make this process easier, and to be able to return to the application.
